Noelia, I’m getting rather tired with all this, especially since the catastrophe in S. Asia - the British ego, as you so glibly put it, has raised more than your national debt for aid to the region. That aid will continue for the months and years ahead and I’m very proud indeed that I belong to a country that is able and more than willing to shove its hands in its pockets to do what’s needed.
No, you are wrong, totally wrong, about Iraq. You will always be wrong about Iraq right up until they take their place in the free democracies of the world. Of course you will deny the Iraqi people this basic right, hoping some where down the line it will all fall apart - just to prove you right? A passive evil in my mind, that the world does not share with you when propagate that the ‘whole world’ was against the war. Nonsense and you know it!
Noelia, with respect, you have no more parallels left to draw save a twisted view that needs to be pampered from time to time.
But let me say: This world has shrunk. Its not the huge mysterious place it was once with 200 countries and 700 languages. We suddenly know that we are all the same, with the same needs and desires. The tragic events in S. Asia was a wake up call for all humanity as we realise how fragile this world is and how depended we are on one another.
Best wishes, John.

Hello John
If only everything was about money....To be honest I prefer a poor country like Argentina, that does not help but does not invade either, than having the right to invade, destroy and kill another country just because you pay our debts or help the tsunami victims....I bet my head iraki people likes us far more than you too....
But okay, you're free to believe whatever you want. From now on, I change my mind and I completely support our invasion to the Falkalnds...If the UK has the right to invade Irak, we have the right to invade the Falklands to save the people from the evil english Empire... After all, the same way irakis were not listened, we dont have to listen to Falklanders, right?
Let's destroy the world happily!!
Noelia

Noelia, I suppose one rhetorical response deserves another.
No one is talking about money, if only it were so simple, but we all know it is not. What we know is that one can go it alone anymore and that those in distress are our neighbours. As I mentioned, this world has shrunk and what we find is a loose connection of national ideologies, religious beliefs, customs and comforting habits. Many people, throughout the world share all of this in common, but often do so behind barricades of fear. If a prayer is all you’ve got - then that worth many, many, millions of dollars. Our humanity is all we have.
The world has changed as it must. It will go on changing. Positively or negatively? That’s in our hands and we mould that by giving power to those who wish to elect to govern us. Think of those who cannot do this. What does your heart sing when your freedoms are curtailed, when you must be careful of what you write - or what you say to your neighbours, or if your faith is not the prescribed state faith? Perhaps you lie and smile - conform in order to stay alive, at least for while. Better than being frightened by your conscious that’s telling you to fight back, keeping still what’s in your heart. Freedom has never been a customary sacrifice in order to be appointed with our lot.
Your jibe that Iraqi’s like Argentineans far more than the British is a prerogative not chosen by them. You have chosen this comment, not them. Perhaps you can take plain responsibility for your comment and the horror they face every day by those who were nursed by Saddam; those who keep-up the daily custom of slaughtering their own people?
The Iraqi people, themselves, will cast off the old and bring in the new and they will neither consult the USA or the UK as they abolish their past and appoint the people who should be their leaders.
Then the pollution of murder will cease.
Best wishes, John.
